About InkStage

kara gall

Kara started InkStage Design in the fall of 2004, though she has been a freelancing graphic artist since 2000.

As a writer, Kara is trained in the subtleties of both word and imagery. Her professional background in the communication arts, combined with her experiences working in the more technical fields of engineering, research, and natural resources, give her a broad-based perspective that she brings to her partnerships with her clients.

Kara has a BA in Sociology & Anthropology from Nebraska Wesleyan University and an MA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University. These two disciplines have greatly influenced her professional (and personal) goal of balancing logic, linearity and structure with creativity, expression, and possibility.

Her work experience ranges from editing research protocols for masters-level research projects, to designing print- and web-based marketing and information materials. A published writer, her essays and stories appear in the magazines Reclaiming Quarterly and Moonflow and in the anthologies, Breeder: Stories from the New Generation of Mothers, Women Who Eat, and ReGeneration: Telling Stories from our Twenties. She writes a quarterly column in an independent women's health magazine.

In addition to being an entrepreneur, Kara is also a singer-songwriter who is currently composing her first album, a bluesy-folksy collection about life on the Plains. She enjoys camping, drum circles, dancing, headstands, and cooking Middle Eastern and Indian food.

Words That Inspire Us

"The secret of all effective originality in advertising is not the creation of new and tricky words and pictures, but one of putting familiar words and pictures into new relationships."
